Jan and Ted at the Red Snapper restaurant in
Rodney Bay, St Lucia

My childhood home was Stoke-on-Trent living first in Meir then Blythe Bridge. An large part of my life in summer revolved round my Dad's passion for cricket. He played for Blythe Colours and Caverswall, then for many years was on the management committee at Caverswall. So most weekends i was there too. Later in life Dad loved going to test matches with Ted and I.

Ted and I lived in Meir too whilst working in Blythe Bridge. Then soon after Dad died, work meant we had to relocate and we moved to Market Deeping. South Lincolshire. Ted had already introduced me to Malta and we holidayed there regularly over the years. After work circumstances changed again we decided to move to Malta.

Prior to moving to Malta, holidays had always been an important part of our lives- regular visits to Sliema, number of visits to Barbados and St Lucia to watch Englands cricket team, visiting a good number of Greek Islands and the southern Peloponese, and regular trips to Belgium provide fond memories. And when "abroad" restaurants and bars are a key memory, so here are some favourites
