This page shows the legs of Ted and Jan Whitfield's car journey from the UK to Malta, our new home country. It shows the hours and miles travelled each day, and our average speed. If you travel at the auroroute/autostada speed limit and for more hours a day, the journey could be done in half the time. The car was a fairly heavily loaded Suzuki Jimny 1.3. The stops part way through a day were lunch and/or petrol stops. The "ferry times" allow for the crossing time plus arriving an hour before a booked ferry/train at Folkestone and Pozzallo. At San Giovanni the ferries leave every few minutes, and you just turn up, so the time allows half an hour to buy a ticket, drive on and allow for the boat to fill. The final column shoes howe much petrol we used - a significant proportion of the cost of the trip
